Overview
After bidding against several competitors, we were awarded the tender by MTR to design, manufacture, and install signage in 11 train stations along the east end of the Elizabeth Line in London. At the end of the tender process, we came out on top after being judged on price, quality, lead-times, and safety standards in line with MTRs values of delivering affordable, safe, and punctual services.
Early Engagement
Close communication with TFL Design right at the start of the process was key to ensuring that we were on track with proposals and working within design guidelines. Members of TFL and MTR Elizabeth Line visited our headquarters in East Kilbride where samples of the various sign types were showcased, reassuring the client before sign off prior to manufacturing.
The scope was to deliver a total number of 850 rail signs ranging from simple wayfinding and platform signs to illuminated totems and digital signs.
Outcome
After 12 months from initial engagement, the result was a transformation in all stations along the line, unveiling the new MTR Elizabeth Line branding, with passenger’s first impressions being made as they walked under the new entrance facias.
We were praised by MTR for our project management and expertise in coordinating such a large diverse project. Keeping the client abreast of the milestones and using a Smartsheet system to see daily progress enabled clear communication between all parties. This, and working harmoniously with other sub-contractors, led to a continued relationship and successive contracts being granted.
