Launch Foods

After watching a news report about surplus foods then changing the channel only to see another about food poverty, Craig’s Johnson’s concept for Launch Foods was born.

Craig explained, “it seemed like a crazy situation to be in where companies were sending food to landfill yet there were children in our own city of Glasgow going hungry.”

So, he decided to do something about it. After working with local food suppliers to donate ingredients to get the idea off the ground, he sourced a food truck and began visiting primary schools in underprivileged areas in Glasgow, offering free hot meals to all kids.

It wasn’t long before expansion was on the horizon and the idea for a coffee shop came along to generate some much-needed funds to reach out to even more kids. After the challenges in the hospitality industry during the pandemic, @Launch Coffee finally opened last July in Glasgow City Centre’s Bothwell Street.

The café offers delicious baked goods, sandwiches and toasties freshly prepared on the premises every day not to mention amazing coffee (we can vouch for that) for reasonable prices. They also provide an office catering service for neighbouring businesses including JP Morgan, Edrington Group and PWC. You can be sure that every penny spent will go towards feeding one of the 300 kids Launch feeds every day.

The charity also relies on help from the business community, so we were delighted to be able to offer our help and we donated the external projecting sign to @Launch Coffee in support of this tremendous cause.
