Overview
When Portland Design introduced us to British Land in 2013 to work on a pilot scheme at Mayflower retail park in Basildon, it was the start of a relationship that continues to this day. So impressed were British Land with the experience of working with us, that they asked us to roll out their new signage programme to a further six shopping centres.
After work completed at those first sites, a change of direction and a more bespoke personalised approach was adopted in subsequent projects with the introduction of digital signage.
As experts in both digital and traditional wayfinding, we were the perfect choice. One of those projects was Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield and is a great example of us working with design concepts to create modern wayfinding solutions which enhance the appearance of and add style to shopping locations.
Perfect Partnership
We worked successfully with Portland Design on their inspired concept to create bespoke digital wayfinding signs for Meadowhall Shopping Centre. It was essential that our collaborative approach was maintained whilst working with other subcontractors on this large, complex project.
Over the course of the two-year redevelopment of Meadowhall Shopping Centre, we supplied all digital hardware, totems, and signage across the mall. The signs were mainly constructed from Corian and used a mixture of perforated cladding, timber, and 3D printed shapes to form the side trims for each district.
Injecting Some Personality
Each family of signs complement the unique character of each of the four districts within the mall and adds a real sense of place to each area. As well as being functional in guiding and navigating shoppers around complex routes, our signage also endorses brand personality whilst sympathising with and enhancing the surrounding area.
Areas with their own individual style within a welcoming yet contemporary space made for a lighter, brighter, more modern consumer experience and the first choice for consumers across the region.
