Iceland Streatham - Building Environments in Action
Last year Merson Group launched a unique and all-encompassing service offering named Building Environments. This service combines the strengths of each of Merson’s individual businesses to provide a combined offer that encompasses external architectural facades, signage schemes, interiors, digital display and point-of-sale services that large clients would traditionally have to source separately and manage individually.

Today we want to share with you a recently completed project that perfectly showcases the benefits that Building Environments can bring to nationwide retail projects.

Iceland, a valued key client of Merson Group, has recently upgraded its Streatham store and engaged us to provide both the cladding and external signage. Iceland has been trading in Streatham for years, building itself a strong customer base but the time came to freshen up its image and upgrade the store to benefit its loyal customers. The extensive revamp of this Iceland store consisted of a new shop front, external cladding and external branding as well as new offers and services.

The cladding used on this project is our Wallplank system which is a fully drained and ventilated façade, both designed and manufactured in-house. As well as the cladding, the external signage has been modernised to give Iceland a brand new look. Although this is the first store where we have used our all-encompassing building environments service, this branch does form part of an ongoing upgrade to Iceland’s external signage which Merson have been busy upgrading since April of this year.

Working with a larger company like Merson who have been involved in national rebrands for 75 years means we have the understanding, experience and ability to work to tight deadlines. The design consultation period on this project took approximately ten weeks however from time of final approval to the installation being complete was less than three weeks.

We know that the key to successful execution of a combined cladding and signage project such as this is the design interface between the two projects. Knowing exactly what surface the signage is being mounted onto helps in the development of the signage type, and by having involvement at every stage of the project we can deliver a cost effective project, with minimal risk and an impressive end result.

This project combined two areas of the business to result in a well-organised and effective solution for Iceland and we look forward to working on many more projects of this nature in the future.
