Pleased to Begin Work at the Aloft Hotel, Aberdeen
CGL Facades are delighted to announce that they have won the contract to manufacture and supply the cladding for the brand new Aloft Hotel in Aberdeen. This impressive 150-bedroom hotel will form part of the new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). This large-scale project (AECC) is being delivered by Aberdeen City Council and its development partner, Henry Boot Developments, with Robertson Construction as the main contractor and will deliver a new world-class facility for Scotland.
CGL were awarded the contract from MetalTech, who are the roofing and cladding contractor and who will install our PPC Aluminium Wallplank system. This cladding system will be delivered in three colour variations, two greys and a contrasting yellow which will work together to give the building a striking appearance. A few bespoke areas of this project meant close collaboration with the design team at MetalTech in order to achieve the architects desired outcome. The architects, Cooper Cromar, wanted the yellow to merge in with the grey on the flashing, so together we created a design that meant the flashing was made from two pieces to achieve this aesthetic finish.
It is estimated that on completion, this new AECC facility could contribute an additional 4.5 million visitors, and a huge increase in visitor spend. This, along with the creation of up to 350 full time jobs will be a great boost to the North East of Scotland. The Aloft hotel will be managed by the UK’s leading independent hotel management company, Redefine BDL Hotels and will feature contemporary interiors, tech-forward amenities and live-music programming.
We are delighted to be part of this exciting development and look forward to watching the progression of the Aloft Hotel. We will share more on this project soon and in the meantime, you can take a look through our portfolio here.
