New Teaching Facility at the University of Winchester
CGL Facades are delighted to announce that they have won the contract to manufacture and supply the cladding for a brand-new teaching facility at the University of Winchester on their West Downs site.

With origins dating back to the 1840’s, the University of Winchester has a strong history and is a popular choice amongst those seeking out higher education. Over the last decade significant redevelopment has taken place to modernise the campus, however this latest project is tipped as the most ambitious to date. With a brief to deliver an impressive high-quality teaching facility that both meets the evolving demands of higher education and acts as a gateway to the City, this building will undoubtedly offer something new to the University.

CGL were awarded the contract to supply and manufacture the cladding from Colorminium who will be installing around 800m2 of our Aluminium Rainscreen system. This system was chosen partly due to its diverse portfolio of finishes along with its superior functionality when it comes to achieving the perfect alignment of panels and joint lines. Design Engine architects have come up with a stunning design that carefully considers the location along with enriching the student experience, and we are delighted to play a key part in delivering this fascinating unique learning space.

Once complete, the building will become home to the University’s computing and digital-related degree programmes and will boast impressive teaching spaces, a café, art gallery, food hall, library and social learning areas.

We enjoy delivering educational building projects, particularly, as research continues to present a link between improving educational spaces with more effective learning. With its new state of the art learning space, we believe that the new West Downs site sets the bar very high for others to follow.

More on this project soon.
