A Festive Message from Merson Group
CEO of Merson Group Roddy Angus reflects on an extremely busy 2016, looks ahead to 2017 and shares his festive message:

So, how was 2016 for you?

Was it the year you expected? Did it surprise or disappoint? Did it involve changes, planned or unplanned? At Merson Group the answers are “no”, “both” and “both”!

Leaving any politics of it to one side, Brexit was a major national event – one that impacted the majority of UK businesses for better or worse.

I don’t know about you but for us it meant projects went on hold and got cancelled – we’ve honestly struggled to see any upside from it. And yet, there was an unexpected silver lining. Not unlike the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 it forced us to look hard at what we were doing from top to bottom: Strategy, structure, people, processes and delivery. Not unlike 2008, the outcome was a highly beneficial reshaping and refocussing of the business.

From the Board, through to operating divisions, senior management, sites, staff and systems, everything has had a serious review with the added benefit of external eyes on the review process.

We now find ourselves in better, leaner shape and with a new offer called “Building Environments” that encapsulates everything Merson Group does, including signage, cladding, brand-led interior treatments and point of sale. As well as breadth this new offer has real depth, extending from application of our technical design skills to your signage, cladding and interiors, to all aspects of manufacturing and installation.

This is all to serve you, our extremely valued customers, better than ever. Every year we have to earn the right to retain your business by delivering consistently and finding new ways to add value for you.

If this year has been a stable one or even a year of growth for you then we hope the seasonal break is one of peaceful reflection on a job well done. If, like our year, it has been one of keen analysis, making some overdue tough decisions and coming out of the other side in good shape, then we hope the break lets you re-charge the batteries before you push onwards and upwards! We’d love the opportunity to help you achieve your goals for next year in any way we can.

Wishing you health, wealth and happiness in 2017,

Roddy Angus
Merson Group CEO
