Quantity Surveyor - Glasgow

Working closely with the Commercial Director we have a new opportunity for an ambitious and driven Quantity Surveyor to join our project team and to undertake the management of project costs for our Rainscreen façade projects. You will be responsible for the commercial elements of all projects working with a team of five project managers to ensure the margins are managed on all projects whilst retaining excellent client relations. You will report to the Commercial Director on all disciplines detailed below.

DUTIES

Day to day management of the commercial aspects of Rainscreen projects, including but not limited to:
  •  Receive the estimates from the sales team at handover and understand the contract conditions and the detail of our offer.
  •  Working with the project managers and Design Manager to monitor the commercial elements of the project in line with the contracted scope of work and highlight any change and associated costs.
  •  Act as person in control to compile and manage the change order process, submitting the required documentation require to substantiate any additional claims.
  •  Work with the project team to ensure that all variations are successfully managed to ensure that margins are maintained.
  •  Work with the project team to ensure that we work within the confines of the contractual framework.
  •  Review of contract documents to highlight project/contractual risks to Commercial Director prior to signing contracts and to ensure projects are managed within the contractual framework.
  •  Day to day liason with clients project quantity surveyors across a number of projects.
  •  Report to Commerical Director any concerns related to financial or schedule performance.
  •  Work with project managers to verify and maintain an accurate project programme.
  •  Responsible for raising monthly valuations and internal invoices to ensure cashflow is suitably maintained.
  •  Management of sub contractor accounts.
  •  Work with the accounts team to ensure of credit exposure is not in excess of individual clients credit limits.
  •  Responsible for completing accurate internal Work In Progress for the project teams live projects at month end for management accounts.
  •  Responsible for completing the short term projection for live projects.
  •  Make recommendations to Commercial Director where margin improvement can be made.
  •  Produce fortnightly cost reports for Commercial director on the performance of each project.

eDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • You should be degree qualified in a quantity surveying discipline and ideally have at least one years practical work experience.
